Ye Old Maps of Holmes Co. - Where we have been! - Where we are going! This is a  fascinating look at the rare old maps of Holmes Co. Come and learn about a recent discovery in the Library of Congress of old detailed maps of Millersburg.  These rare maps show a snapshot in time.  Some are of great detail.   See a rare map showing over 200 one room schools and more.  The program will be a combination of actual blowups of some combined with an informative powerpoint presentation.   The program will be narrated by Historical Society Director Mark Boley.   The program has been postponed till 2021 due to the virus situation.

HOLIDAYS AT THE MANSION 2020

Come join us for a holiday delight with the popular Holidays at the Mansion. Tours of the Victorian House mansion in Historic Millersburg, Ohio.  Located at 484 Wooster Rd. Millersburg, OH  44654, the house is 28 rooms decorated by area businesses, organizations and private individuals .  The house museum will be open Tues - Sunday from Nov. 16-Dec. 31.  Hours are Sunday - Friday 1:00-4:00pm  and Saturday 1:00-8:00pm.   This is a family friendly event good for all ages but especially those young at heart. HOLIDAY TEA

Please join us for our famous house blend teas and delectable foods by Exclusively Yours Catering as you enjoy a new and original Victorian Holiday story by Sugarcreek author and storyteller, David Lorah. A tour of the Victorian House Museum will follow. This event will take place on Nov. 21, 2020 and start at 10:30am-2:00pm. The menu will include Tea Sandwiches, Cream of Broccoli Soup, Orange Cranberry Scones, Dessert Platter and your choice of two teas.  Event is limited to 25 people . History, Myths and Legends of Troyers Hollow/Doughty Valley

Once said to have been the site of a massive deposit of gold, left behind by receding glaciers, the Doughty Valley and Troyer’s Hollow remain rich in history.

The story of the valley, including the hollow, will be featured in a May 2 event at the Keim Lumber Community Room The 10 a.m. program will feature presentations by local historians and glacial experts. “The valley has fascinated people for generations with its unique features and history and has been used by various groups over the years.  Following the program arrangements have been made to actually visit the hollow and see first hand the features the glacier  carved out thousands of years ago.  The Carpenter Cafe will offer up a box lunch before departing for the hollow. Myths and Legends of Holmes Co.

MYTHS AND LEGENDS OF HOLMES CO.  This is a spin off program based on our Unusual and Mysterious Holmes Co.  but with a new theme.   

Come and learn about the legend of the doughty valley gold, tom lyons the last Indian of holmesville, Panthers Hollow, serpent type creatures in Lake Odell and much more including updates of Holmes Co. Bigfoot sightings.  Presenters are Mary Tipton and Melissa Patrick with audience participation encouraged.  Due to the Covid distancing requirements seating will be limited to 100 people.  The program will be at the St. Peters Catholic Community Center in Millersburg located on S. Crawford St.  Door will open 30 min. prior to programming.  Seating is first come first serve and is free.
