Castle Club Card Party

Suffering from cabin fever, or just love to play cards.  The Holmes Co. Historical Society will be offering card parties in their Castle Club located next to the Victorian House. The event will be April 27 from 2-5:00pm. We invite you to form a table for card or board games, call text or email and reserve a space. We have 10 tables available, on first come first serve. Refreshments will be provided. High and low score prizes will be awarded. We hope you will join us to renew old friendships or make new ones. Columbus Historical Bus Tour

COLUMBUS HISTORICAL TOUR $110.00 per person!

Come and join us for a fascinating tour of the Athenaeum, built in the 1800’s, this opulent building in downtown Columbus served as the headquarters for the Masonic Temple. The statehouse tours is a favorite and takes you into the lower level corridors where history comes alive and viewing of the new exhibit showcasing the original Ohio Constitution. Shopping in the North Market district is a Columbus favorite. We then travel to Kelton House for an experiential tour of the house and under ground railroad connection with 1st person presentation by Sofia. Our day ends with a cash bar and buffet at the historic Schmidt's Restaurant in German Village. A Walk Back in Time/Memories of Brooks and Kathleen Harris

Brooks and Kathleen Harris had an impact for many years on the history of Holmes Co.  Active members of the Historical Society for many years and author of the Holmes Co. Historical Sketchbook, the Harris's left their mark and touched many students lives. They both were teachers are West Holmes High School for many years. With the recent passing of Brooks last Nov. the society decided to put together a program called "A Walk Back in Time/The Memories of Brooks and Kathleen Harris" to be presented on Thurs. May 16 at the Duncan Theater from 7:00-9:00pm. A brief history will be presented by presenters Mark Boley, Bob Porter and Lyle Gray followed by audience participation on how the Harris's impacted their lives.  The program is free but donations will be accepted and split with the Holmes Co. Historical Society and Killbuck Valley Museum.

Abandon Holmes Co.

This fascinating program series continues on August 15 at the Holmes Co. Library meeting room at 7:00pm.  The signature past program subjects include: The secret lodge Knights of the Pythias in Millersburg, the underworld of the Old Jail and the Holmes Co. Orphanage.  Presented by site investigators, Mary Tipton, Missy Middleton and Debbie Weaver Kline.  They have gained access to many locations and have a large selection of photographs from each location.  So if you ever wondered what ever happen to these locations and more come and find out with Abandoned Holmes Co.
